Highway 107 Study Public Meeting

Overview

Study Background

Highway 107 Study Background and Study Goals

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is conducting a study to determine the need for highway safety and mobility improvements, identify feasible alternatives to address those needs, and to develop an improvement plan for the study corridor along Highway 107 between General Samuels Road and Highway 89 in Jacksonville. The study goals developed in conjunction with local officials, stakeholders, and the public are listed below:

  • Enhance safety throughout the route
  • Improve mobility along the route
  • Support the Little Rock Air Force Base mission
  • Minimize impacts to the natural, physical and human environments

Existing and Future Needs

The following needs were determined after studying the Highway 107 corridor:

Safety

  • Crash frequencies at several locations are higher than similar highways across Arkansas.

Mobility/Accessibility

  • Several cross streets are slightly offset at Highway 107. As the area grows, this will cause safety and capacity concerns.
  • In some areas, driveways are closely spaced and not well defined. This can cause driver confusion and increased crashes.

Capacity

  • Delays sometimes occur when traffic turns to or from Highway 107.
  • Generally speaking, there is not a need for major widening.

Funding

No funding is currently available for any improvements in the study. Improvements will be made as needs occur and as funding becomes available.
