Highway 107 Study Public Meeting

Improvements

Proposed Improvements

The purpose of the Highway 107 Study is to determine the need for highway safety and mobility improvements, identify feasible alternatives to address those needs, and to develop an improvement plan for the study corridor along Highway 107 between General Samuels Road and Highway 89 in Jacksonville.

The study establishes priorities for future improvements that have been divided into short-term and long-term improvement projects.

Short-Term Improvement Recommendations

The Short-Term recommendations include relatively low-cost options that can be implemented quickly at strategic locations to improve safety, such as:

  • Improved pavement markings and signage at intersections

  • Edge and centerline rumble strips/stripes as needed throughout the corridor

Long-Term Improvement Recommendations

The Long-Term recommendations include the following improvements to improve operations and further reduce crash rates:

  • Intersection improvements

    • General Samuels Road

    • Arnold Drive

    • Old Tom Box Road

    • Jacksonville-Conway Road

    • Republican Road

    • Centennial Road

    • Roderweis Road

    • Highway 89/Tates Mill Road

  • Curve Improvements at various locations with a history of high crash rates
    • Widen Shoulders

    • Flatten Slopes

    • Adequate Clear Zones

    • Install Roadside Barriers
